Where are my files? BetterText edits files in place. They live in the Files locations you choose: On My iPhone › BetterText, iCloud Drive, Dropbox (with the Dropbox app installed), and others.
Does BetterText change my file’s encoding or line endings? No. It detects UTF-8, UTF-16, Windows-1252 and Latin-1, plus LF/CRLF/CR line endings, and writes the file back the same way.
